Strong University-Enterprise Alliance Leading Global Collagen Innovation

Against the backdrop of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan prioritizing biomaterials and healthcare, and driving industry-university-research integration, collagen stands as a core strategic material for tissue repair, high-end medical devices, and regenerative medicine. It meets surging consumer demand for anti-aging and youth preservation, unlocking a hundred-billion-yuan market opportunity.

While China boasts a robust regulatory system, leading safety standards, the world’s most complete collagen industrial chain, and top-tier patents, clinical research, and market scale, gaps remain in basic theory, core technology breakthroughs, and international standard-setting. Addressing these bottlenecks requires deep industry-university-research collaboration.

Fudan University has profound academic strengths in life sciences, polymer materials, phenomics, artificial intelligence, and clinical medicine. Fiman Biotechnology, a pioneer in active collagen for over two decades, was among the first Chinese enterprises to secure Class III medical device approval for bovine collagen. This alliance translates President Xi Jinping’s “Four Orientations” — toward global tech frontiers, economic mainstays, major national needs, and people’s health — from vision to action.

Remarks by Guo Yi (Party Secretary, School of Biomedical Engineering & Technology Innovation)

“Our visions and missions align closely,” said Secretary Guo. “We will mobilize interdisciplinary talent, share advanced research platforms, and deepen industry-education integration. Focused on key bovine collagen technologies, we strive to build a benchmark for integrated industry-university-research and application, driving high-quality growth in China’s collagen sector.”

National-Grade Collagen Empowering Industrial Upgrading
With 20+ years of expertise, Fiman Biotechnology upholds “national-grade collagen quality” and operates a full-chain quality control system — from EU-standard medical cattle farms and raw material optimization to process innovation, product development, and clinical validation. The company has co-authored expert consensus and group standards for periorbital and perioral anti-aging, advancing safe, effective collagen solutions.

Feiman has long championed industry-university-research collaboration, partnering with Sichuan University, Shaanxi University of Science & Technology, Jilin University, and clinical experts to streamline “basic research-clinical application-industrial translation” and shape industry standards. The Fudan alliance marks a pivotal step in building an integrated “research-production-application” ecosystem for active collagen.
